See what requirements are needed to provide a Linux machine to install the Vaultone Connector

Updated over 2 weeks ago

It is important to note that each company has its own particularities and specific needs. If you have any questions, please contact our support team!

Before starting the installation, you will need to provision a Linux machine (on-premise or VM) with the following characteristics.

Operational System

Virtual Appliance

We recommend using the latest version of the Virtual Appliance for the VaultOne Connector as the OS for your server. This OS has been hardened using the CIS Framework to ensure a secure operational system.

To access and download the latest version of the Virtual Appliance, you can download directly from the Connector's page in "Administration -> Connectors -> Download", inside your platform.

Password Requirements for Virtual Appliance

When installing the Virtual Appliance of your connector, you will receive a temporary password to access the root user. However, before proceeding with the connector configuration, it will be mandatory to change this password according to the requirements below:

  • Number of characters in the new password that must not be present in the old password: 8.

  • Maximum number of consecutive characters of the same class: 4 (e.g., four consecutive lowercase letters or 1234).

  • Maximum number of consecutive identical characters: 3 (e.g., aaa or 1111).

  • The new password cannot contain the username or any variation of the username.

  • Minimum length: 15 characters.

  • It must contain:

    • Digits.

    • Uppercase letters.

    • Lowercase letters.

    • Special characters.

Please contact our support ([email protected] or via Chat inside the platform) if you need any help.

Hardware

To install the VaultOne Connector correctly, make sure you meet one of the hardware requirements options based on the number of concurrent sessions per Connector:

Item

10 simultaneous sessions

25 simultaneous sessions

50 simultaneous sessions

vCPUs:

4

8

12

RAM Memory:

8GB

8GB

16GB

Hard Drive:

60GB

80GB

120GB

Network

Some basic firewall settings must be applied on the server by the network administrator. This configuration consists of allowing the Connector's Server to receive connections (Inbound) on ports 443 and 2222 (For bastion access only), in addition to its default SSH port. It will also be necessary to ensure that this server, where the connector will be installed, can communicate with the resources that will be accessed through communication protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, RDP, SSH, Telnet or VNC).
