Adding your websites to the platform is the most secure and efficient way to centralize and control access to your credentials. In this guide, we show you how to add a new website, whether for standard access or for secure access using our gateway with Web Shield.
This process is done when creating a new website asset on the platform.
First step: add a new website
From the Websites menu, click the + Add Website button. Fill in the initial information, such as the Name to identify the site and the access URI.
Second step: enter the access credentials
On the same screen, click the + Add button to create or select a credential that will be used to log in to the site.
Third step: configure secure access via Gateway (Optional)
This step is only necessary if you want access to this site to be done through our secure access gateway, which completely isolates the user's Browse session. For a standard setup, skip to the Fourth step.
Activating Web Shield, which operates on the concept of Remote Browser Isolation (RBI), offers full control over the user's interaction with the site. With it, it's possible not only to record the session but also to apply advanced security policies, such as:
Block file transfers.
Prevent the use of developer tools (DevTools).
Disable the browser's native password manager (Google Password Manager, etc.).
Restrict navigation to other tabs, if necessary.
To activate this security layer:
Check the Use Gateway checkbox.
Select the Connector from the menu that appears.
Check the Web Shield checkbox.
Fourth step: set up sharing and save
Navigate to the Sharing Preferences tab and add the users or groups that will have permission to access this website. After setting the permissions, click Save to finish.
Done! Your website has been successfully added to VaultOne.
Note: To ensure your access is secure and audited, initiate website logins through the VaultOne platform. The difference lies in how the session occurs: for sites with Web Shield enabled, a secure and isolated Browse session will be established. For standard sites, login is performed automatically and securely by the VaultOne browser extension, without the user needing to see or handle the password.
