How to set default permissions by resource type
How to set default permissions by resource type
Updated over a week ago

In VaultOne, every new resource added has 2 users assigned to that resource with permission to manage: one is the resource creator and the other is the master admin. This configuration is the platform's default and is necessary so that a resource does not become "orphaned" if the creator's user is deleted from VaultOne.

First step: Access the default permissions tab

If you want to change the users who will have permission to manage the resources that will be added, click on Administration -> Settings and then on the Default Permissions tab:

Second step: Choose the resource

In this tab, choose one of the resource types. In this case, I chose the websites tab:

Third step: Add users and their permissions

Click +Add User and choose the user who will have permissions marked for all added websites that are not private. Here, I chose Davi, with the Manage permission:

Fourth step: Add groups and their permissions

Do the same in Groups, however, be aware that all users within the selected group will have the selected permissions. In the example below, all members of the VaultOne group will be able to Manage and View details of non-private websites created:

Repeat the same for each resource type (computers, remote devices, database, etc.)

NOTE: If you allow users to delete the default user, they will have to choose another user with permission to manage, in order to not leave the resource without access, if the creator of the resource is deleted from the platform

When finished, click Save all:
