While connecting to a machine, for example, Linux, the user can choose if it wants to access it “in” or “out” of the browser (Direct Access / Connect).
While selecting Direct Access, the connection will be made “out” of the browser, utilizing PuTTY or the Shell of the user machine. The option to make this without the need to authenticate is what will be shown below.
First step: Generate and copy the key in PuTTYgen
Open the PuTTYgen and click “generate”, to generate a new key, which will be utilized to the platform verify your authentication.
Yet in PuTTYgen, after generating the key, copy all its characters, image below.
Second step: Save the SSH key to VaultOne
In VaultOne, click in your username, in the upper right corner, then click in My settings.
Select “SSH Access” and paste the public key you generated in PuTTYgen, then click “Save”.
Third Step: Save the private key in PuTTYgen
Return to PuTTYgen and click “Saveprivatekey”, in this case we are saving the public key in PuTTY format.
Now we need to convert this key to RSA. Yet in PuTTYgen select “Conversions” then “ExportOpenSSHkey”, after that the key should be automatically converted and you can close PuTTYgen.
Fourth step: Access the terminal
Now the access via terminal can be done. Return to the “Computers” tab inside VaultOne, then choose the machine you want to connect “out” of the browser, after clicking “Direct Access” you should see the SSH that will be used in the prompt.
In the Command Prompt, you can paste the SSH code, before the ID it will be needed to place your user + the symbol #, after that the command “-i” and at the end you need to put the directory where the primary key is, like the image below.
In the first access it will be needed to inform the credential, after that it will not be needed anymore.
For security reasons at least once a day, it will be needed to inform the credentials.
